Recap: Hyattsville's May 6 council meeting
Budget amendment authority tabled, 2025 budget to include climate action plan money, new procurement ordinance adopted
Hyattsville city council voted to table a proposed authorization for the city treasurer to make unspecified adjustments to the current year’s general fund budget and to include $100,000 for a climate action plan in next year’s budget at the regularly scheduled May 6 council meeting. The council also passed a new procurement ordinance, acknowledged an Open Meetings Act violation and approved five expenditures totaling $650,000.
The proposed authorization gave the city treasurer permission to change the fiscal year 2024 general fund budget “to address year-end operation expenditures.” It was originally part of the consent agenda, which is for council actions “considered routine in nature,” according to the agenda. Customarily, items on the consent agenda do not receive any specific discussion and are passed as a group.
